St Mary The Virgin Charlton-on-Otmoor

The tall tower of the church in the centre of the village cannot be missed and it stands as a visible beacon of our friendly church community.

The pattern of services and social events is varied at the moment due to the clergy vacancies so we are dependent on the benefice administrator, the parochial church council and retired clergy for keeping things going .
At the moment we generally have two communion services a month: a family service and sometimes a BCP Evening Prayer.
We quite often go to services at some of the other 7 parishes in the benefice the nearest one of which, Oddington is hardly a mile away.
For information on what is happening the village magazine “Otmoor Review” noticeboards and social media are updated.
There is a C of E Primary School.
The parish includes the next villages of Fencott and Murcott.

The church is open every day in daylight hours and is available for life events and is a place to reflect, discover, pray, worship and celebrate. Seating is for about 120 people.
A toilet and small kitchen were installed some years ago.
The building is in generally good repair but like any buildings dating back many hundred years there are always items needing at least a bit of attention.
The church, which is grade 1 listed, is visited by people enjoying the Otmoor area who like to come and see the beautiful rood screen topped with an unusual foliage cross and several other interesting features.
