A History of St Andrew’s Church, Oddington

The church dates from c.1200 but many features come from major works undertaken in 1884.
The ornate interior is from the Anglo Catholic period (1915-1970).
In the churchyard the preaching cross is the only complete one in Oxfordshire.

The Maori Princess, Makeriti Papakura, is buried in the churchyard and her grave is visited by Maoris from all over the world.
In the church is the memorial to Maoris killed in the First World War.
This is the only such memorial in the world and was commissioned by Makeriti when she lived in the village.
